A08: Happy Reunion

The gorgeous sunset finally rewarded us on the third day of our photo shooting expedition. In contrast to the poetic gloomy day on my first hike, this day was a glorious day of celebration and happiness.

This father penguin made it home safe and sound from a hunting trip. He was silently gliding back home on his full belly, leaning over to greet his young chick with the most tender loving gaze. The mother penguin was still busy cleaning herself while patiently waiting for his return... 

The sunlight intensified the bright orange color on the ear patch and the pale yellow color on the breast. Although it hurt to see massive snow and ice with naked eyes, I took off my polar sunglasses anyway, so that I could truly admire these rich colors. The bright golden sunset in the backdrop and the sunlight casting on this penguin family suddenly warmed up the entire cold surrounding.
